A solar-powered floating house made of recycled materials! Would you have imagined that possible a few years ago?

The concept of this innovative and futuristic house was designed by the Italian architect Giancarlo Zema for EcoFloLife, a company specialised in the manufacture and sales of eco-friendly floating house and floating residential structures.

This house will be built from 98% recycled materials: recycled aluminum hull and recycled timber for the rest. It will also be equipped with solar panels that will allow a self-sustaining energy. It was designed for being constructed on rivers, lakes, bays, atolls and calm seas.

This circular home named WaterNest 100 provides a 100 m² (1,076 sq ft) living area which can be configured in many different ways. It also has a large covered balcony and many windows to let in natural light.

This house is currently a concept and was designed to fit in a variety of locations and in consideration of the fact that the sea levels are starting to rise in the World. No price estimation has been provided yet.

This floating house reminds us undoubtedly the project Ark from Alexander Remizov designed against extreme environmental conditions and climate changes. The shape was designed to direct the airflow, maximize the solar gain and the living space (14,000 m² or 150.695 sq ft). It also aims to be completely independent in terms of energy.

Who knows, building on the water (and possibly one day under water) could emerge as the next challenge for construction engineers.
